Luna Lovegood

Set Review - #40802-1: Luna Lovegood & Thestral Figures - Brickheadz

More Harry Potter themed Brick Headz sets! Continuing with the packs of two, this one is #40802-1: Luna Lovegood & Thestral Figures. It was released on 1 September 2025 in the US for $19.99. It contains 292 pieces which works out to $0.068 per piece. It’s the standard box design with the numbers on the bottom of the front. Thestral is 279 and Luna is 280. The back gives another view and shows that you can take off the plate at the base from the figure.

The box contains five parts bags numbered one through five. There are two instruction booklets that were jammed in with the parts bags in my set.

Bags one and two build Luna Lovegood as she appeared in The fifth movie (“Order of the Phoenix”). There’s a scene where she is hanging out in the woods with the Thestrals and Harry stops by. She explains to him what Thestrals are and tries to feed an apple to the baby Thestral. Also, she isn’t wearing any shoes which explains the skin toned color used for her legs/feet. Nothing extraordinary about this build. Her sweater is printed along with her top. Also, I like how they did the bag that she is carrying with the tiles placed at an angle instead of using more prints.

Bags three, four, and five build the Thestral. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be the baby or the adult from that scene. It captures the wings and tail and while hard to see in the picture, the four legs. It’s actually propped up on two clear 2x2 bricks as if it were jumping or flying. The eyes use the glow in the dark plastic seen in other sets, but have the white printing to match the standard Brick Headz eyes.

Here are the figures fully built from the front and side. Similar to other Brick Headz sets, if you are a Harry Potter fan or if you have to have all of the Brick Headz, pick these up. If not, pass. The pricing isn’t too bad, but they are LEGO exclusives so you have to hope they go on discount before retirement if you want a better deal.

Set Review: #76400-1 - Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals - Harry Potter

I found set #76400-1: Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals from the 2022 Harry Potter line on sale before Christmas. I finally got to assemble it so here’s a quick review. This set was released on 20 June 2022 in the US and retails for $19.99. It contains 121 pieces and works out to $0.165 per piece. It’s a bit high in my opinion. Especially for such a small set. I purchased it for $15.99 so slightly better. The Harry Potter theme always seems to have one or two sets a year at a lower price point so I think this is it for 2022.

Nothing special about the box. The front shows the full set with the Harry Potter logo and movie characters. The back shows the set again and some of the play features.

The contents are two parts bags and an instruction booklet. The instruction booklet is printed with a white background which makes it easier to see some of the darker pieces. I’m a fan of this switch.

And here’s the build! You get a carriage, a tree, two minifigures, and the two thestrals. You can’t expect a ton of details in such a small build, but it’s not too bad. Plus Harry Potter fans will get thestrals, yet another Harry Potter minifigure, and a Luna Lovegood minifigure. I can’t complain about this one considering the size of the set.

Overall, I wouldn’t grab this set unless you’re a Harry Potter fan or you’re looking for the thestrals for a MOC. It’s a good set if you want a lower price point option as a gift for a kid/adult, but it’s overpriced at $20. Look for it to go on sale or use it to get an order to pass a GWP limit.

Here’s a closer look at the minifigures. Both come with wands. Harry has an apple and Luna has a small purse and a 1x1 tile. I’m not sure what the tile is for… The set also has a printed 2x3 tile for the Quibbler newsletter that she reads in the movie/book.

The thestrals look pretty accurate. They don’t have moving parts except for the wings you attach to the adult. If you’re looking to build a Harry Potter MOC of a scene with them in it, then this is your chance to get these creatures. Beyond that, you’ll have to find other things to do with them.

Set Review - #75966-1 - Hogwarts Room of Requirements - Harry Potter

Continuing with the 2020 Harry Potter series, here is #75966-1: Hogwarts Room of Requirements. It was released in the US on 24 August 2020 (3 May 2020 in Germany). It contains 193 pieces and retails for $19.99 in the US. This works out to $0.104 per piece. I picked it up here in Germany on sale for just under $17.

Onto the review…

Here’s the box with the set on the front. It is the standard front with the Harry Potter logo, pictures of the actors, and the minifigures on the bottom. The back shows some of the play features as well as the other side of the set.

The contents are two numbered parts bags, the instruction booklet, and a sticker sheet. It’s not a ton of stickers, but I am not a fan of the small stickers you have to place on a larger panel or brick.

The first bag builds part of the room. It includes the outer sliding door that opens when the students need it to. There is a door behind it so they can get in. I like the larger translucent blue bricks for the windows and am trying to think of some cool ways to use them elsewhere.

This bag has the Luna Lovegood minifigure.

At 193 pieces, the build goes quickly. Bag 2 includes the remainder of the set to include Technic elements to knock down the proclamations. For minifigures you get Harry, Hermione, and the training Dementor. You also get some patronus charms to include a rabbit and… a gopher? Finally you get some “flick pieces” to shoot your charm from the minifigs and have them land somewhere on the floor for you to find later.

Overall, it’s not a bad set. You get a few decent pieces, there are minimal stickers, the minifigures are okay, and you get some translucent pieces. It’s not a bad set to pick up if you are a Harry Potter fan and you can get it at a discount. The set has holes for Technic pins so you can connect it to others released over the past few years to create a larger scene. Beyond that, not much else to say. It’s a smaller set with not a lot too it, but it’s designed for that price point so you can’t expect much more.

What are your thoughts on this one?
